Items Discussed

1. First Aid event – The first event by the Red Cross has taken place and has been a success. Another is being scheduled for March 11th and 16th. There have already been further enquiries and a third is planned for May time if demand fills a group. Again these will take 7 hours each and the qualification lasts for three years.

2. Women in Surgery – This has been provisionally confirmed for 7th May at 7.30pm. We plan to book The Space again and Sorca will organise the nibbles. Two representatives of WIS will fly over from London.

3. Conference -

• Brochure for conference discussed. Catherine organising brochures from College of Surgeons.
• Thank-you cards for conference speakers and workshop leaders – Emma (50)
• Post conference buffet background music (iPOD playlist
• poster boards for BCH for the conference. We are ordering 8 with 2 A0 boards. These are free from medical imaging however if required by BCH this will take priority over our needs..
• Amy & Pippa currently working on sponsorship. MPS have donated £1000 for the conference, and Wesley Medical have donated £350. Pastest books would be ideal for raffle prizes and book vouchers or discount vouchers are planned for the packs (discount codes)
• Gifts for speakers – wine (1/3 non-alco) gifts, green and blacks chocolates etc. Laura to compile and estimate
• Lanyards – sarah Scott £62 for lanyards plus 150 cards (5 colours)

5. Royal College of Surgeons – This conference will be held in London on 6th March, and will involve medical societies from across UK. Conor and David. Flights & accommodation will be partially subsidised by Scrubs / Student’s Union.

6. Collect post at Student’s Union twice weekly leading to conference to receive application forms and cheques. Emma G. And David to collect alternating days

7. Edinburgh Surgical Anatomy trip – 16th April half day course (£45) – Delia, Michael, James, Sarah, David, aarti and Suzie interested

8. Belfast marathon team- Sarah, Bryan, David, Pippa, James, Luke, Melissa, and Emma have expressed an interest.
