Items Discussed
1. Post for conference – this needs to be checked regularly and followed up. Some delegates have posted application forms and cheques, and these still have not been received. Chase these up with SU. So far 81/82 applications have been received and there are spaces available for 100 delegates.
2. Hoodies – Aarti is picking up additional hoodies that have been printed this Wednesday (18th March 09).
3. Luke – Gave feedback from trip to London with Royal College of Surgeons. Discussed anatomy training between various universities in UK, of which QUB appears to be among the best. Contact made with president of surgical society at Leeds University.
Retired surgeon, Andrew Raffery, from England, expressed an interest in coming to speak with Scrubs, and this is a possibility for next year. Contact address control.freak@btinternet.com
4. Connor – catering for conference is sorted for 130 people. Questioned whether this should be reduced, but it is to include delegates, Scrubs committee and speakers so keeping number fixed. MBC have also removed £75 cost from using foyer for tea & coffee.
5. Sara – organising Scrubs marathon team and is keen to get as many members as possible involved. If interested contact Sara with name, date of birth, and size of t-shirt required for marathon.
6. James – poster boards have been sorted with BCH. So far 5 posters have been submitted of size A1, with 4 A0 poster boards available for our use.
7. Prizes for conference – Amy and Pippa have some textbooks which can be used as prizes. Posters will be judged by Jan Smit and Tracey Wilkinson, with 1st prize of hoodie and £50 book token, 2nd prize of £25 book token, and 3rd prize of textbook.
8. Luke has confirmed the Globe for Thursday of conference, for numbers of about 50-60 people, although this must be confirmed again 2 days before conference. We are allowed to have our own pub quiz, and are invited to join in karaoke afterwards. Luke & Michael to meet up and set questions for quiz – 4 question rounds of 10 questions, and a picture round. Prizes - a bar round?
9. Next meeting is at 6.30pm-10pm Wednesday 25th March (night before conference!!!!!!). Need good attendance to pack bags for delegates, sort out thank you cards, and other general conference stuff. Pizza to be provided courtesy of one of our kind sponsors
