About

The main philosophy of QUB Scrubs is that undergraduate medicine is not just about passing exams, but also having the opportunity to explore academic interests in medicine and surgery as well as having some great craic!!

We are a relatively new medical student society that organises a range of events to provide students with the opportunity to:-

-Develop interest in clinical or academic medicine and surgery
-Interact vertically with other students and institutions around the UK, Ireland and wherever!
-Interact socially and professionally with other healthcare professionals
-Promote social and professional peer interactions at an undergraduate level

The society was founded in the 2004/2005 following two workshops on applied ultrasound anatomy of the cardiovascular system and one suturing workshop. Word rapidly spread and the enthusiasm to run more events of a similar nature for a wider audience lead to the formation QUB Scrubs.

In the coming 2008/2009 academic year, the society will be in its 5th year of running and will host its fourth Undergraduate Emergency Conference

The society has developed a structured organisation and constitution with the aim of solidifying our membership base and developing links in the longer term, to help run bigger, better and more frequent events that allow QUB Scrubs to provide something for everyone.

Our committee consists of three officers and their deputies who oversee the society’s development and carry out house keeping duties. Regular event coordinators organise events in acute medicine, surgery and immediate care and the conference coordinators plan the annual conference.

We try to meet regularly as a committee to discuss and plan future events. Our base is the Medical Biology Centre on the Lisburn Road in Belfast, but if you are interested in getting in touch please do not hesitate to email at qubscrubs@hotmail.co.uk or fill in a comment form in the ‘Contact Us’ section.
